Five Hundred Beats a Minute

The humming bird is the smallest kind of bird in the world.  Also because of their feeding style, they are the only birds who are able to hover.  Their wings beat at an average of 500 beats a minute to help them stay aloft.

Fruit always makes for excellent hanging art.  I decided to do a still life series revolving around pears.  These are only two of them, I will upload more as I continue to work on them.

At Sea

At the beach house we have these little birds flittering about.   Eventually I decided to make an oil painting of one of them.
